Motivating Medics

The past 3-4 years have been phenomenal for Motivating Medics.

Hundreds of brilliant young people have been inspired to consider a career in medicine and surgery. Various workshops, webinars, and university talks have taken place over time.

A few young people have been closely mentored, and medical school offers have been obtained. The oldest is now heading into the second year of his medical degree.

I have been able to share the work of Motivating Medics across a variety of platforms – most notably at the House of Lords in 2018.

The organisation has received national recognition via The British Medical Journal, Medical Women’s Federation and the Royal Borough of Greenwich news.

I strive to continue to help widen access into medical school.

I am proud of the work achieved so far, but this is only the beginning. Equality, diversity and inclusion within our workforce are necessary. The NHS is made up of a plethora of workers and patients of different backgrounds. Medical schools should fundamentally reflect this.

Further projects, workshops, meetings and academia will take place in the near future. I will use this blog to provide updates on the above.
